Future-Proof Kitchen Doors: 2026 Design Trends

The prospect of designing a new kitchen or upgrading elements of your existing space is an exciting one, as you've got the opportunity to give one of the most-used areas of your home an entirely new look and feel.

Choosing new replacement kitchen cabinet doors can be a big decision, as they'll play a central role in the design of your space. Here we take a look at some of the top emerging interior trends of 2026 and explore which kitchen cabinet doors will help you to achieve your dream kitchen.

2026's Colour Trends Are Timeless

Some trendy colours come and go in the blink of an eye, but the most popular tones of 2026 are already shaping up to have a sense of timelessness, which is great for the longevity of the design choices you make.

We're saying goodbye to harsh bright hues and icy greys in favour of warm, earthy neutrals that'll instantly make your space feel more inviting and comfortable. From delicate antique white to carat beige, sage green and duck egg, there's a finish perfectly suited to every taste in our collection.

If you're looking for a more impactful hue, rich reds, fir greens and moody blues are also going to be popular throughout 2026 and beyond. Indigo blue is the colour of the year for leading paint brand Dulux, so you can expect to see lots of rich, jewel tones making their way into kitchen designs this year.

Warm Minimalism

Bright, airy and spacious, minimal kitchens can feel like a breath of fresh air. This year, we're seeing a real trend towards warm minimalism, which is focused on creating curated and intentional displays rather than rooms that feel stark or empty.

Strong design foundations are key to successful minimal spaces, so you'll want to choose replacement kitchen cabinet doors with a low-key profile and a high-end look. Slab doors are well-suited to this style and our Bella Venice doors have the streamlined profile and clean lines to make a real impact.

Our Bella Aysgarth kitchen doors are another option to consider, especially if you're looking for a style that has a bit of extra detail and interest. This tea tray style has a touch of vintage charm without detracting from its sense of understated sophistication.

Silver Accents

Warm metal accents have been popular for some time, and while they can still be used to great success, we're seeing a real uptick in chrome and stainless steel, which embody a certain contemporary, crisp energy.

Silver accents can be incorporated subtly or more overtly, depending on your sense of style, both of which will make a statement in their own way. The integrated handles on our Bella Segreto doors offer the chance to incorporate a flash of metal into your space and you can choose between a dark brushed steel or a slightly brighter looking brushed nickel.

Pro Tip: If you prefer handled doors, you'll find a range of different finishes across our handle collection, including satin chrome, stainless steel and pewter.

Wood Finishes

Offering a sense of life and vivacity, wood tones add warmth to a space in a way that feels very personal. If you enjoy light wood tones, our Bella collection of kitchen doors are available in a beautiful cremona oak cotta, which has a delicate and homely feel. If you prefer richer wood tones, our Valore kitchen doors come in a stunning vanguard walnut finish, which has an element of mid-century modern flair that's overflowing with personality.

Pro Tip: Wood also pairs wonderfully with crisp stainless steel accessories, as there's an inherent sense of contrast here in a traditional-meets-contemporary and warm-meets-cool way.

The Lived-In Look

From what's being called 'gentle clutter' to spaces that feel as though they've been built and refined over many years, 2026 is all about creating rooms that genuinely feel like home. Kitchen cabinet doors with more traditional details can work especially well if you're going for a lived-in look, as they have a sense of character and will feel as though they've always been part of your home.

Our Bella Westbury doors feature tongue and groove detailing as well as a curved arch, which offer a country kitchen look in a way that still feels well-suited to modern life. Our Bella Newport doors have a similar feel, with delicate recessed grooves offering depth and detail. Both styles offer a rustic yet refined aesthetic, which is perfect for a lived-in kitchen.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I order colour samples from Happy Doors?

Yes, you can select up to six colour samples completely free of charge, so you can compare them in different lights and at different times of the day. Our experts are also on hand to guide you through the decision-making process and help you find your perfect match.

How do I measure accurately for new kitchen cabinet doors?

If your cabinets have existing doors that you want to replace, you can simply measure from top to bottom and left to right. This will give you accurate height and width measurements that you can enter when ordering your new doors. We always recommend measuring the back side of each door, as this will be a flat surface that'll give accurate measurements.

If you don't have existing doors, you can measure the unit. Again, measure from left to right and top to bottom, taking care to measure right from the edge. You'll need to account for some tolerance when using this method, which will allow your new doors to open. So, you'll want to subtract 5mm from the height and 4mm from the width.

Are gloss finish kitchen doors still in style in 2026?

While current trends favour textured, matte finishes that offer a sense of quiet luxury, gloss doors can still look outstanding in the right space. So don't discount this finish if it's one you love!
